Experience a characteristic and charming Road-Side Diner & Bar welcome to The Czech Inn Bar & Grill
Situated in Bodden Town, The Czech Inn Bar & Grill is arguably one of the most unique and characteristic restaurants in Cayman, offering a surprisingly versatile menu for a road-side diner and bar!
This popular Cayman diner not only offers an incredible and diverse menu but, is also a visual feast, with every available wall and ceiling space adorned with novelty items, trinkets, pictures and flags (sent in by customers) from all over the world creating a charming, unique and memorable ambience for guests to enjoy.
Hugely popular with locals and tourists alike, their reputation for mouthwatering food and a fun dining experience has gained the Czech Inn Restaurant a loyal following, and has been described by patrons as a “Must Experience” while in Cayman!
All about George! Finding out more about Cayman Restaurant owner, Chef Jiri Zitterbart .
Affectionately known to guests as George, Chef Jiri Zitterbart is arguably as characteristic and charming as his restaurant! Originally from the Czech Republic, George shared with me that he had first been inspired to become a Chef from preparing meals at home with his grandmother.
“The kitchen was a great place to escape the rest of my family and learn from my grandmother;” he told me. One of the restaurant’s signature Czech menu items, the unforgettably succulent Guláš (Beef Goulash) served with Knedlíky (Dumplings) is his grandmothers’ original recipe.
After completing culinary school in France, George went on to work with celebrity Chef, Gordon Ramsay in his London, Soho Restaurant. From there he gained experience working for the Four Seasons in London, Ireland, Italy, New York and LA before moving to Bangkok, Thailand.
When asked what brought him to Cayman, George told us that having completed a wedding for 1,200 guests, where he had worked around the clock, he collapsed and was subsequently ordered to go on vacation by his doctor. George’s boss sent him to Cayman on a six week “recovery vacation.” Of course, he fell in love with Cayman and the Island lifestyle, and the rest is history; he has never looked back!
Inspiration for a new style of Restaurant in Cayman
Having previously worked on Island for several well-known Cayman restaurants, George first opened the Czech Inn Grill Cayman in December of 2016. He shared with us that he wanted to create an environment that embraced the relaxed island lifestyle while offering reasonably priced, good quality food.
Popular menu items include Chicken Schnitzel, served with his grandmother’s potato salad, Asian Ribs, served with seasoned roasted potatoes and their selection of home-style burgers.
For a romantic meal, he highly recommends sea food. When asked why, he replied with a grin; “You don’t want a heavy meal if you are looking for romance later.”
A perfect menu selection at the Czech Inn for couples enjoying a romantic evening would be their mussels (known for their aphrodisiac qualities) in a wine and garlic broth, which one happy customer referred to as “the best mussels on Island.”
