Situated in the heart of George Town, nestled in the corner of Mary Street and Shedden Road, Latin Taste restaurant offers a made-to-order, ‘Home Style’ Honduran and Caribbean themed breakfast, lunch & dinner menu, at extremely competitive and affordable prices.

This quaint café-style restaurant, with indoor/outdoor dining, first opened its doors in 2006, with a fully Honduran based menu, inspired by the authentic taste of home cooked meals.

Mother and son team Gladys & Roger (‘Alex’) Espinal (owner of Spanglish Restaurant) initially worked together to create a menu incorporating the most popular dishes from Honduras, including Baleadas, Tajaditas con Carne, Pasteles and their house specialty, Arroz con Pollo.

Introduction of local Caribbean dishes to the Menu

As the restaurant became increasingly popular amongst, not only the Spanish community in Cayman but, equally with Caymanians and other nationalities alike, the decision to combine Caribbean traditional dishes including Oxtail, Fried Chicken, Steamed & Fried Snapper, was extremely well received in the local community.  Another key factor in the success of Latin Taste is that it is one of only a handful of restaurants in Caymanthat offer a full breakfast menu.

Honduran and Cayman signature dishes

Alex shared with Caymanrestaurants.com that Latin Taste Restaurant’s most popular Honduran dish, without question, is their signature Baleadas. “Everyone, loves the Baleadas,” he told us. “Each order is custom-made, consisting of a fresh flour tortilla with fried red beans, Honduran cheese and a choice of scrambled egg, fried pork, avocado or chicken.”

Alex’s own personal favorite menu item is their local specialty dish, Cayman turtle stew. “The way we cook the meat over eight hours on a low fire makes it extremely tender and flavorsome.  It has become one of the most popular dishes on Fridays at Latin Taste,” he told us.

Latin Taste Cayman offers seating both inside and outdoors for up to 40 people.  Opening hours: 7am-8:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7am-9:30pm Fridays and Saturdays.  Closed Sundays.
