We have a foodie event that is perfect for wine lovers. Agua Restaurant and Lounge is hosting a Sommelier Stand-Off on Thursday 9 March at 6.30pm. 

This will be ‘Sommelier Stand-Off Season 7, Round 4’ and the competition is between Monica Dubar from The Ritz-Carlton and Federico Cerchiari from Bacaro. 

Guests will enjoy a five-course dinner and eight wine pairings. The evening will start with complimentary bubbles on arrival. 

Tickets cost CI$140 plus gratuities and are available for sale online on EventPro. 

Background

The Sommelier Standoff competition, created by Jacques Scott Wines and Spirits is hosted at Agua Restaurant. The seventh season began in October 2022.  

Each season is held over multiple months, with a dinner each month bringing two sommeliers face-to-face to battle. They must pair wines with dishes, and the diners choose which wine they feel pairs best with the meal. Votes are counted after each round, and if there is a tie after the courses, the competitors immediately go to a blind-tasting sudden death round.
