Whether you’re Mexican or not, Cinco De Mayo is one of those holidays that everyone looks forward to celebrating.  Here in Cayman restaurants and bars across the island go all out to make it a night to remember.  If you want to make the most of Cinco De Mayo then these are the events you’ll want to attend.  Luckily you don’t have to remember a ton of dates as all the events this year are being held on the actual day, Thursday May 5th

The Bird never misses a chance to host an amazing party and this year they are bringing us “Cinco De Birdo”.  They’ll have Mexican food specials alongside their regular menu, plus they’re serving popular Mexican cocktails to celebrate the day including palomas, micheladas and Don Julio margaritas.  Keep an eye out for the mariachi band who will randomly pop in.  If you want to kickstart the festivities ahead of Thursday, then you should swing by on Monday May 2nd to watch their “Michelada Madness” competition where thirteen bartenders will present their spin on this popular cocktail.

La Casita in East End is hosting their first Cinco De Mayo with a mini food festival in their parking lot.  ‘Taste of Mexico’ begins at 5pm and tickets can be purchased in advance on EventPro’s website. For CI$40 you’ll receive 15 tickets to use on their food and drink stalls, plus they have a piñata, games, and prizes on the night.  Even though they are one of the newest restaurants on the food scene, they’ve quickly established themselves for their authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails making it worth the trek.

Agave is hosting their annual Cinco De Mayo party this Thursday in their private back garden.  As you listen to house beats and a live performance by DJ Denys you can roam around the space while indulging in their selection of street tacos and margaritas.  Can’t make it on Thursday? Agave is making sure they keep the food and drink specials going all weekend long.

Casa 43 is an intimate, but always busy restaurant that plans to celebrate Cinco De Mayo all day long.  With an already large Mexican menu you can’t go wrong ordering some of their popular items, including sizzling fajitas, handmade tacos, and stuffed burritos.  They serve some truly incredible tequila cocktails, including frozen mango margaritas and ‘El Jefe’ spicy margaritas.

Coccoloba at the Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa made the cut for the ‘Best Restaurants To Watch A Cayman Sunset’, and they’ll be observing Cinco De Mayo on the beach.  On top of their regular menu, they’ll be serving specialty tacos and margaritas to honour the day.  Enjoy dinner with a show as there will be a mariachi band and a fire dancer on the night.

With all the events happening on the same day you’ll have to start deciding on how you want to commemorate Cinco De Mayo this Thursday.  Hopefully this list helps make that decision a little bit easier.
